Bruce

“BRUCE” - SPECIAL HOME NEEDED

“Bruce” is a very handsome, 8 year old tricolour, working strain English Setter who is looking for a loving new home.

He came to us from another breed rescue in the East Midlands who had taken him in when he was found wandering the streets. He was in a very poor state, extremely thin, with a dreadfully matted coat - and an urge to escape! He soon settled down and was quickly re-homed but unfortunately his new owner had a bad accident and “Bruce” had to be returned.

Since then “Bruce” has been living in kennels in Warwickshire where he is loved by the staff and he is very happy with his human company.

Constant care and good feeding have returned him to excellent condition and, together with regular grooming (which he loves), he is now in good health with a thick, glossy coat. He eats well and enjoys his walks although he is very strong on the lead.
Despite his earlier life, “Bruce” is a very affectionate, loving English Setter who, like all Setters, is just beginning to 'grow up' i.e. calm down! He is friendly and outgoing, he loves people and being fussed and cuddled. He has been trained to “sit” and “lie down” and is very intelligent, being very quick to learn new playing games. However he is petrified of thunder but settles down with plenty of reassurance. “Bruce” would love a new home where he is the only dog as he hates pushy, inquisitive dogs or any aggression - he will return it if provoked.

The ideal home for him would be where he would be a solitary dog, where there is someone at home all day or someone with whom he can be 24/7, where he can have peace and his own space, a large secure garden where his recall can be worked on (it has vastly improved) and no cats or young children - not much to ask in return for total devotion from a very handsome new member of the family! He will thrive on a one-to-one relationship with his new owner and make an excellent, loyal companion.
