Dogs from Greece

We have a contact in Greece, Mrs Bates, who occasionally has English Setters brought to her small rescue on the island of Syros.

These four dogs were seen by Mrs Bates' helper when on the way to another rescue as a 'moving box' by the side of the road. Inside the box were 4 puppies which looked like miniature Setter crosses. They couldn't leave them to die so took the puppies home with them.

After a rough start when they spent time at the vets and needing lots of TLC from Mrs Bates and her 'worldwide student' staff, the dogs are now 12 months old and have grown into extremely fit, amenable to training and loving, 'miniature' working Setter crosses. Their names are Lana, Soufflé, Domino and Hugo.

They will chase chickens if allowed to roam or if your fencing is not secure but do come back to heel when called when they know you. At the moment the fencing in their runs at the rescue is 1.7 metres which keeps the dogs secure.

By 'miniature' we mean they are approximately 10 kgs in weight at the moment and measure 45 cms (18 inches) to the shoulder.

Their Pet Passports will be ready in time for them to travel to the UK in May 2010 (fingers crossed!). We will be looking for suitable homes for Lana, Soufflé, Domino and Hugo at this time.

If you feel you are able to offer a suitable home to any of these four Setter crosses, please contact our Co-ordinator, Jenny Penna, who will note the dog you are interested in and take your details.

Jenny's telephone number is
