!! SPECIAL HOME NEEDED !!
We are looking for a very special ‘forever’ home for “Bruiser”, a tricolour, working type English Setter. He is 5 years old and has been in the care of ESRA while we search for a new home for him.
“Bruiser” was advertised in a local newspaper, free to a good home, and was originally taken in by a Border Collie Rescue who alerted ESRA about him. We collected him and he has been living in Warwickshire with one of our regional helpers.
When he was collected he was extremely emaciated, his coat was a mass of matted hair and dreadlocks which had to be cut off and he needed a good bath. He has grown a good coat, has been neutered and is now in a much better condition.
“Bruiser” has been trained to “sit” and “lie down” and will do so on command, but he will run off if an opportunity presents itself and then he has typical Setter ‘selective hearing’ when he will not respond!
Whilst at the Border Collie Rescue he escaped on two occasions - through and, secondly, over deer-proof fencing. He can still jump over 7 feet with ease. He is a very hyperactive dog who jumps on kitchen worktops and runs around them.
Sadly we have no idea what type of home he came from, or what he has endured in his early years. However, despite this, he is a very affectionate, loving English Setter. He adores people and responds well to both males and females but he is not good with other dogs or bitches. Ideally, he needs to be a sole dog in a home where there is someone with him all day, and which has a high walled garden to keep him from escaping.
If you would be interested in learning more about “Bruiser” and possibly be in a position to offer him a new home, we would be delighted to hear from you.
